Come celebrate the folk artistry of residents who transform their houses and yards with lights, illuminated ornaments, and shrines of devotion and fantasy.
The tours are approximately 45 minutes. Coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies will be served at City Hall. In addition, craft activities for children and the Somerville Community Chorus will perform.
Tours will start and end from Somerville City Hall, 89 Highland Ave.
Tickets will go on sale on, Sunday, Dec. 1st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again on Thursday, Dec., 5th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at our Nibble Kitchen, 1 Bow Market Way, (behind Union Tavern at 345 Somerville Ave.) in Union Square. (Cash or check sales only, NO credit card sales. Checks should be made out to “Somerville Arts Council”.) On rare occasions, there may be tickets leftover and sold at City Hall on the evening of the tour. Each year the tour changes, so do not expect the 2018 tour to be the 2019 tour.
Trolley tour times are the following: 4:30, 5:00, 5:45, 6:15, 7:00, 7:30, 8:15, 8:45. 9:15
We have 4 trolleys running concurrently for EACH tour time. Each trolley ticket is sold as "4:30 A" "4:30 B" etc. If you plan to buy tickets for a specific trolley be sure to note which specific trolley, i.e. A, B, C, D. If requesting a handicap accomodation please inform the ticket seller. All trolleys are handicap accessible but accomodation will affect the number of tickets sold per trolley.
Only handicap parking will be allowed in the City Hall concourse that evening. All attendee parking will be on streets around City Hall or in lot on School Street. Residential parking restrictions will be "relaxed" from 4 to 11 p.m. that evening.
If a City "snow emergency" has been called, the event will take place on Sunday, December 15th. Only if an official "emergency."
If you wish to purchase a map of tour they will be available for $3 the evening of the tour, or Monday, the 16th at Porter Square Books. We also have greeting cards and Illumination books.
