Official Description

Take a journey through unbridled emotion at its finest: the exceptional students of NEC's Opera department and Philharmonia orchestra bring you tragedy, then comedy in this double bill of one-act operas by Puccini.

In the tragic opera Suor Angelica, a young woman has a baby out of wedlock and suffers the censure of an unforgiving society. Then, the crackling comedy Gianni Schicchi gives us a tale of trickery and greed. When a rich relation dies, how far will the family go to write themselves into the will? Includes “O mio babbino caro,” one of the most cherished arias in opera.
