Austin Stewart is an arts administrator, cultural innovator, musicologist, and singer. In August 2019, he was appointed Director of Operation for Chorus pro Musica. Known for their innovative and superb performances, Boston-based Chorus pro Musica inspires singers and listeners alike with beloved classics and new works. From 2015-2017, Austin served as Audience Engagement Coordinator at Michigan Opera Theatre where he oversaw community engagement programs for adult and college-aged audiences, Opera Clubs, the volunteer Ambassadors program, and consulted on content and messaging to partner organizations throughout Metro Detroit. Austin received his PhD in historical musicology from the University of Michigan. His research interests include opera and civic identity, the American West, artistic citizenship, and nineteenth-century opera. He now lives in Newton, MA.
